London Launch Competition…
It’s just 23 sleeps until This Man publishes here in the UK on October 10th. That will be 10 days before I held my breath and clicked the publish button on Amazon’s self-publishing site one year ago. I never could have imagined what has happened to me and This Man. It’s been incredible, but I’ve hardly had time to draw breath and figure out what the bloody hell is going on.
I couldn’t have done any of this without all of you, and I hope you know that. So as a big thank you for all of your support, I’d like to offer two VIP readers and their ‘plus ones’ the opportunity to sup champagne and nibble some canapés with me at my official London launch reception. It’s time to celebrate officially!
It has been discussed and agreed that the easiest and fairest way to enter is by email, but before you all dive in and fire your emails off, there are some things you need to know…
The launch reception will be held in London on the evening of October 17th . Please ensure you are available on this date before entering. While I was given the okay to invite some readers, I couldn’t quite wangle an all-expenses paid trip, so you must be able to get yourself to London (and to and from the party) and, if staying overnight, source your own accommodation. You also MUST be over 18. Despite the launch being held in London, we’re keeping the competition open internationally. Who knows, maybe an overseas reader just happens to be in London on that date, or maybe they have a rich man with a private jet who’ll fly them here. Anything is possible, trust me.
As part of the prize, the winners will receive a gift bag full of This Man merchandise, including a signed paperback of This Man, the Trilogy Keepsake book and much, much more.
Now for the boring bit…
PLEASE ensure you read the Terms & Conditions (below) carefully. They set out the rules of the competition, the prize and instructions. Once you’ve done that, you simply send an email to the address stated in the Terms & Conditions and use the subject heading ‘Take Me With You!’. Please include your name, age, city and country of residence.

Terms & Conditions
1. We have 2 prizes to give away.
2. This competition is for the opportunity to win a place on the guest-list for you and a friend at Jodi Ellen Malpas’ official Launch party in central London on the evening of October 17th 2013 as set out in these Terms and Conditions (“the Prize”).
3. No purchase necessary to enter the competition.
4. This competition is open to residents of any country aged 18 years or over, on the understanding that they must be in London, UK on the night of the launch, and that they will cover all of their own expenses.
5. The competition opens on 17 September 2013 (“the Opening Date”) and all entries must be received by 23.59 GMT on Thursday 3rd October 2013 (“the Closing Date”). Any entries received before the Opening Date or after the Closing Date will be ineligible. Jodi Ellen Malpas/The Orion Publishing Group accepts no responsibility for any entries that fail to arrive by the Closing Date for any reason. Proof of posting or sending is not proof of receipt. Entries via agents or third parties are invalid.
6. To enter, you must send an email to author.jem.competition@live.co.uk using the subject heading ‘Take Me With You!’. In the body of the email, you must include your name, age, and city/country of origin.
7. All entries which comply with all terms and conditions will be entered into a draw. Two winners will be selected at random on Friday 4th October. The winners will be notified within 7 days.
8. The Prize comprises entry to the launch for the winner plus one, cocktails and canapés, a gift bag full of This Man merchandise and a signed copy of This Man in paperback. It DOES NOT include travel, accommodation or expenses. The prize is subject to availability and it may be necessary to change the date, amend or cancel the promotion without notice or without warning. In the event that the Winners cannot attend on the given date, no alternative dates will be provided and Jodi Ellen Malpas/The Orion Publishing Group reserves the right to offer the prize to a substitute winner. No cash alternative or substitute prize will be provided to the original Winner.
9. The Judge’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into about the Judge’s selections of Winners or the Prize.
10. The Winner will be notified via email during week commencing 7th October 2013. The Winner must claim their prize within 5 working days of the Promoter sending notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these rules.
11. The Promoter will use any data submitted by entrants only for the purposes of running the competition and for sending information about the author and her books and products. By entering this competition, all entrants consent to the use of their personal data in this way.
12. The Winner agrees to take part in reasonable post event publicity and to the use of their names and photographs in such publicity if required.
13. By entering the competition each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
