My mission objective…
I’ll tell you that in a minute, but first, I need to answer another question…
“WHEN CAN WE EXPECT MORE OF YOUR WRITING?” is what I keep getting asked, or something along these lines.
Well, put it this way. I haven’t been sitting on my arse for the past two months. Yes, I’ve been writing, but I’ve also been stupidly busy with the paperback schedule of This Man, Beneath and Confessed. The time isn’t right to share my next project. I have a commitment with the releases of This Man and I don’t want to lose sight of that. I’ve worked hard for it. It’s the pinnacle. It needs my full attention. The time to share will come soon-ish.
Back to my mission objective. There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the coming release of the This Man Trilogy in paperback. But there’s some disappointment, too. As you may or may not know, each of the books will contain exclusive ‘bonus’ material, namely a little something written from Jesse’s POV.
You should all know me by now, or I hope you do. I like everyone to be happy, but as time passes and this crazy ride gets crazier, it’s becoming harder and harder to do this. But it won’t stop me from trying. There are many who will buy the paperbacks, despite already having the ebook versions, but I appreciate that many will not. There are also many who’ll be offered the updated ebook version (if you bought after June 18th in the US) that’ll match the paperbacks, but again, there are many who won’t receive this option.
My only way to completely solve this problem is to withdraw the extra material from the paperbacks altogether, but then those who are looking forward to the paperbacks and the bonus Jesse perspectives will be annoyed.
See my dilemma?
My mind has been weighed down by the knowledge of a few unhappy readers. I don’t like it, but I’m no longer free to write what I like about these characters and put it out there as and when I please.
So, after much thought and trampling my publishers delicately …ish, this is the best that I’ve come up with…
The exclusive bonus material in the paperbacks stays. It has to. I don’t have the power to withdraw, and I really don’t want to. So what I intend to do for those who feel they’re missing out by not receiving the updated ebook, or who won’t be buying the paperbacks, is write another existing scene from Jesse’s perspective and publish it for everyone’s reading pleasure. I plan on making this available September 20th and TotallyBooked Blog will have the exclusive for a week before it’s made available on my website. They’ll also have 5 signed copies of This Man in paperback for a giveaway, along with a whole heap of This Man goodies.
Now, you could argue that the people buying the paperbacks are still getting something extra, in which case, I’ll never win. I’ve already written and published three Jesse perspectives on my website, all of which were written while I was self-published and all of which are available to everyone. I’m not sure what more I can do.
I’ll always do the best for my readers, and I have maintained that throughout this process. Never doubt that my readers are my number one priority. If there is a way to keep everyone basking in the sun on Central Jesse Cloud Nine, then I’ll do my best to find it.
